Chunk Clothing
Chunk is a London based street wear label which was launched in 2001 with a range of T-shirts featuring the classic Haynes car illustrations. They offer six product programmes a year, which are made up of four in season collections and two injection ranges.
As well as producing Chunk original designs they also work with some great licenses, which include Star Wars, Marvel Comics, Hanna Barbera, Danger Mouse and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Philosophy
Chunk's ethos has always been to produce great designs on quality garments. Their designs have a distinctly nostalgic appeal, featuring on ball subject matter combined with emotive and often quirky graphics.
Demographic
Chunk has been producing street wear clothing for discerning consumers of nostalgia for the past seven years. The target demographic is 18-35 year old males, who appreciate attention to detail, understand clever but not contrived design and ultimately enjoy being kidult. Fifty percent of what they do is license and the rest is Chunk originals, and their great strength is putting a unique twist of relevant subject matter.
Awards
They were the first fashion apparel brand to take on the Star Wars license four years ago, and because of their unique interpretation of the property and with great creative support and understanding from Lucas, they managed to cross it over to a very cool audience by creatively separating it from mainstream merchandise. Needless to say that their success paved the way for other cool brands to work with Star Wars which now include Marc Ecko, Junk Food and Addict.
